Why Boston Patients Trust Dr. Lee

Dr. Arnold Lee

1

A Focus on the Face

While other practices perform plastic surgery procedures for the face, breasts, and body, our plastic surgeon in Boston, MA, focuses only on the face. This way, Dr. Arnold Lee can continue to hone his skills and provide his patients with the best quality procedures and natural-looking results. Dr. Lee is also the Director of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, where he teaches the next generation of facial plastic surgeons.

2

Revision and Ethnic Rhinoplasty Specialist

Revision cases (correcting unsatisfactory results from a prior surgeon) and ethnic rhinoplasty (preserving the patient's distinct natural features) are two of the most difficult rhinoplasty subtypes, and they are Dr. Lee's specialties. Patients with non-Caucasian skin, in particular, travel to Lee Facial Plastic Surgery for the experience a generalist surgeon may not offer.

A Record of Excellence

In addition to our amazing patient results and 5-star Google reviews, Boston Magazine has named Dr. Lee a Top Doctor every year since 2017. This streak reflects the confidence that our peers and patients have in our rhinoplasty results.

Dramatic Results Are Possible What a Nose Job by Dr. Lee Can Do for You

Rhinoplasty Surgical Techniques Performed by Dr. Lee

Choosing a doctor with techniques you can trust is one of the most important parts of your rhinoplasty journey. Dr. Lee can minimize scarring, shape cartilage, and improve results with techniques like:

closed rhinoplasty incisions

Closed Rhinoplasty

Concerned about scarring? Dr. Lee may recommend a closed rhinoplasty, depending on your case. In a closed rhinoplasty, all incisions are made inside the nostrils. This helps keep scars hidden from view. While this option is more discreet, plastic surgeons are limited in the changes they can make to the cartilage and other nasal structures.

open rhinoplasty incisions

Open Rhinoplasty

For patients wanting more ambitious shaping of their cartilage and nose, Dr. Lee can also provide an open rhinoplasty. Using this technique, an additional incision is made across the columella, the tissue that separates the nostrils. This extra incision helps surgeons make more dramatic changes to the cartilage and other structures of the nose.

Which Surgery Option Is Right for Me?

In the simplest terms, the decision to perform an open or closed rhinoplasty depends on the extent of work needed to achieve your aesthetic goals. Dr. Lee will work with you to determine which method is right for your situation.

A Patient-Centered
Plastic Surgeon Appreciated By Boston

“I found Dr. Lee to perform the corrective surgery. He was not only patient and kind, he executed a perfect and precise corrective surgery to my nose. Corrective surgery can be extremely difficult and he completed the surgery with the upmost care, professionalism, and attention to detail. I now breathe perfectly and my nose no longer has a hook… Dr. Arnold Lee is truly and sincerely the best doctor and plastic surgeon I have ever met.” — Stephanie, 5-Star Review

Revision Rhinoplasty: Correcting a Previous Surgery

An initial rhinoplasty may not have yielded the results you want. The bridge may still be crooked, or you may require further tip defining. Dr. Lee can correct a previous nose job by performing a secondary surgical procedure known as a revision rhinoplasty. With revision rhinoplasty, Dr. Lee attempts to improve on the results of the first surgery and achieve a patient's true cosmetic goals.

During a consultation at our Boston plastic surgery practice, Dr. Lee will go over your concerns. He will also note previous incision locations, changes to the cartilage structure of the nose, the shape of your nostrils, and other factors that could affect the revision technique.

Each revision is individualized to the patient to ensure natural-looking results and high levels of satisfaction.

A Focus on Ethnic Noses Preserving Your Natural Features

In addition to revision surgery, Dr. Lee specializes in ethnic rhinoplasty to give you beautiful results while still representing your unique background. Patients with ethnic noses come to Dr. Lee to correct asymmetrical features, breathing problems, fractures, and other imperfections.

After Rhinoplasty

This patient came to our Boston office after a nasal fracture that resulted in a twisted, asymmetrical nose. Dr. Lee kept the shape and structure of his nose intact while aligning the position of the bridge and refining the tip to give his entire face a more symmetrical appearance. The results still highlight the patient's natural features, but they bring better balance to his face as a whole.

The Step-By-Step Process of a Rhinoplasty Procedure

Dr. Lee will create a surgical plan that is personalized to your unique needs and goals. This timeline represents the general process you can expect when undergoing cosmetic nose surgery:

Anesthesia

Anesthesia makes the rhinoplasty process virtually painless. During your consultation, Dr. Lee will discuss the anesthesia options available to you, including local and general anesthesia.

Incisions

Whether you receive a closed or open nose surgery, small incisions will be made to access your nasal structures. During a closed rhinoplasty, the incisions are created inside the nostrils. During open rhinoplasty, the incisions are created on the outside of the nose between the nostrils.

Reshaping

Dr. Lee will work through these small incisions to refine the areas you wish to change, such as the bridge, nasal tip, nostrils, or septum.

Sutures

Depending on the extent of your surgery, non-dissolvable or dissolvable sutures will be used to close the small incisions on the inside or outside of your nose.

Splints

Nasal splints or internal packing can support and protect your nose as it heals. They can be placed inside or outside the nose. Internal nasal splints support the septum, while external nasal splints are attached to the nose using bandages or adhesive.

FAQ About Rhinoplasty in Boston, MA

Dr. Lee is always happy to answer your questions about rhinoplasty and facial plastic surgery. Some of the most common ones he receives:

Does rhinoplasty leave visible scarring?

Many patients are concerned about scarring during their nose surgery, but they are always relieved to hear the truth: rhinoplasty rarely leaves long-term visible scarring, and marks typically fade over time. For improved results, Dr. Lee offers closed rhinoplasty techniques, which conceal scarring thanks to careful interior incisions.

How long do rhinoplasty results last?

Your results should last for the rest of your life. That is why it is important to find a doctor who can perform your nose surgery correctly. Patients may still experience a few small differences as they get older, which is normal for the aging process regardless of whether or not they have undergone a nose job.

Is revision rhinoplasty safe?

After poor results from a past rhinoplasty, patients may be concerned that they will never have the nose they want. Revision rhinoplasty is safe, provided you choose a surgeon with relevant experience. Dr. Lee specializes in this specific type of nose surgery, carefully reshaping cartilage and structures to create the nose you wanted the first time around.
